The Hidden Revelation in Psalms 91

pastorjerome3

Whoever lives under the shelter of El Elyon, will remain in the shadow of El Shaddai

2 I will say to Yahweh, “You are my Machseh and my Metsuda, my Elohim in whom I trust.”

9 You, O Yahweh, are my Machseh!

You have made Elyon your home. 10 No harm will come to you. Nor shall any plague/sickness come near your house.

16 With orech yamim (length of days, long life) will I satisfy him, and show him My Yeshuah (salvation).Psalms 91:1,2,9,10, 16

We are going through what is the greatest crisis of modern times. The world as we know it is changing rapidly because of the outbreak of the Covid-19 scourge. A crisis of this magnitude causes tremendous uncertainty because no one can predict the full and precise impact of the outbreak on our society and economy.

Individually, as well as a collective, we are worried about keeping ourselves and our loved one's healthy. At the same time, we are concerned about job security as a result of the spread of the coronavirus, which is grinding the world economy almost to a standstill.

In a crisis such as this, especially in an era of social media where fake news often travels faster than the truth, it is crucial that the Church plays its role of bringing to our flock accurate news and information that allow us to take informed decisions based on the reality of God’s Word and the Truth. The Bible says: You shall know the Truth, and the Truth will set us free.

On Wednesday, March 11, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. We are seeing cancellations and postponements of major events and activities that is supposed to stem the tide of the spreading virus. Schools at all levels are either closing for a period of time or going entirely online, and people are encouraged into quarantine. And for the first time since 9/11 and the fourth time ever, Disneyland will close through the end of March. On Sunday, 15/03/20, President Ramaphosa declared a state of national disaster- this is unprecedented in South African history. So what are we to do with all this information? I'm a Pastor, not an infectious disease expert. I find my hope in the words that Jesus spoke to his disciples in the Upper Room on the night of his crucifixion. You remember those words. He said, John 14:1, 27 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me...

27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Hearing these words, we as Christians, need to respond with faith and wisdom instead of fear and panic.

In the midst of all the uncertainty that surrounds us at this time, it is difficult to think of a better thing to do than to pray, and it is difficult to think of a better prayer than the one spoken by a desperate but confident Judean king whose name was Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat's ancient perspective is more appropriate today than you can imagine. In his context, a dangerous delegation from Edom was closing in on his nation, but his faith was all-encompassing. When you read the verse, it sounds almost like it could've been in the paper yesterday. 2 Chronicles 20:9, says, If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’

In other words, Jehoshaphat said, "We are in the midst of this thing that's overwhelming us, and we're gonna stand in front of your temple, and, Lord God, we're gonna cry out to you in the midst of this".

In 2 Chronicles 20:12, Jehoshaphat prayed, and he said, "Lord, we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us, nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on you". "Lord, we don't know what to do, but our eyes are on you"... for Your name is in this Temple.

Prophet 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance
